easy
« on: January 02, 2016, 12:07:51 pm »
I'm enjoying feeling smoke free - food starting to taste again - self respect growing. still got a sore throat so it's easy not to want one. expecting the backlash in a couple of days' time when the novelty has worn off. Thanks for all your messages - I'm cold turkeying simply because I believe like allen carr there are two monsters. the small monster of physical addiction which goes in a few days. and the much more dangerous psychological sub conscious dependency which I'll need to fight all my life. Hope le new year has started good for everyone  :D

You go girl.  Just remember you are in charge not the Nicotine Gremlin.  I found NOPE to be one of the best acronyms from this site and I also have my mental image of Dory, from Finding Nemo, saying, "Just keep quitting; Just keep quitting" really helped when I thought I might succumb.

We are all here for you.

You could try the old 'frozen grape' ploy @RichCdLion - I  know there are quitters on here who swore by it- and @tea had a serious result with Fisherman's Friends.

Whatever it takes, my dear, whatever it takes....    And Well Done That Girl!!!  ;D

That's the way, enjoy the good days, if tomorrow is a bad one so be it. Quitting don't have to be hard all the time, hell you may get an easy one, who knows!!

I did! When my system was cleaning house I got a terribly dry throat and it kind of felt like I'd smoked and I could almost taste it; I was miserable. I tried normal throat sweets and drinking plenty but it just wasn't doing it for me, but the Fisherman's Friends were so strong tasting that they really took the edge off both the feeling and the taste.

hi - yes - easy like sunday morning. ongoing sore throat and at least a week's worth of B&H golds leading up to the stop mean I'm not regretting a thing. the tough bits for me are a few days/weeks/months in when I feel happy or sad and just go 'F it', who cares? I have written down a list of reasons for not smoking again, including the key one - smoking is not your friend. the HALT thing is a good one, just that I'm HALT most of the time in rotation - the motivation for smoking comes from the murky depths of disappointment within - but again I think there are better strategies for coping than smoking...as we all know...

@RichCdLion and @Debbie Think of Queen and "Another bites the dust"

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you, too
Another one bites the dust

As you tick off each of the gremlins.

You both keep plugging on.
