18 Weeks
« on: March 27, 2019, 10:36:56 am »
Hi all, thought I would post as still very quiet on here and new posts may encourage new members to post :)

So, 18 weeks today.  Still losing weight but very slowly as running is not happening for me.  Stopped for 3 weeks after leg/knee pain then tried again and pain almost immediately - I think it shin splints, at some point I will have a gait analysis (probably have to buy yet another pair of trainers)!

Stats so far are: 1256 cigs avoided and £533.38 not spent on cigs (in just 18 weeks!!!) also the risk of heart disease and lung cancer are very slightly reduced - takes a good few years for those to improve.
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  New Quit date 21/11/2018

Oh well done @Nicky40 and well done for continuing with the weight loss despite the problems with your legs. Shin splints is horrid (I've not suffered but have friend who did). You could well be right about different trainers and would it be worth consulting a sports injury person? Hope you feel better soon.

Well done you absolute legend.

Shin splints are a killer, good luck.
