Just over 5 weeks now
« on: December 28, 2018, 12:50:55 pm »
Hi everyone, I haven't been posting much recently as I didn't want to say week 1, week 2 etc then ruin it again.  I am on day 37 today so into month 2.  It's been a very difficult time to quit with all sorts of things going on but I realised that if I keep waiting for perfect quitting circumstances I will never stop and despite the repeated attempts and failures I really did want to quit.

I feel in an ok place on my quit now, yes there have been a couple of awful almost gave in moments - especially with Christmas and drinking but I got through them and I am remaining positive.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and that you all have exciting New Year plans to look forward to.  :)
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  New Quit date 21/11/2018

5 weeks is a huge number, you are playing a blinder, congratulations.

I can only imagine how tough December was, well done.

Thanks @tea and @Max414

Granddaughter not quite 6 months so didn't notice Christmas much, apart from all the fuss and cuddles from many people, unfortunately she has had a cold for a couple of weeks so was a little grumpier than normal. Still, it's wonderful having babies and small children around at Christmas.  My 13 year old niece was seriously excited and pleased with a book set I got her which was heartwarming.  :)

Way to go @Nicky40! You’ve sure got the will power to do it. I remember last Christmas as being a bit tough too but on the flip side it was a very happy time of year and also I didn’t need an excuse to eat through the first weeks of my quit and there was certainly plenty of food around! Must be nice to cuddle your granddaughter without worrying about transferring nicotine fumes onto her.  Well done on five weeks.  Head down and keep going!

Oh well done @Nicky40;D 008

I'm biased I know, but being a pre-Xmas December quitter myself I think it's a fortuitous time of year to start a forever quit. It's such a lovely feeling on January 1st to be able to tell yourself you quit last year.... ;D

Good on you girl!!  :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer:
Finally saw sense on 8/12/13
