Four years ... it can be done
« on: November 15, 2018, 12:07:02 pm »
I've not been around for a month or two, I've had a difficult time.  As some of you know my Dad passed away at the end of September after a short illness.  He was 89 and despite smoking had been doing exceptionally well for his age until about the last month.

Fantastic to see so many new friends in the Penthouse, congratulations everybody.  I'm so sorry I missed all the parties.  Welcome to any new people, you can do this.  Hope all my Just Quit friends are well, apart from the Penthouse parties, have I missed anything else?

I also missed my own four year 'quitaversary' and I think I proved I can get through the saddest of times.  I stayed in my Dad's house on and off for about a month and until after the funeral.  About six packets of cigarettes were there.  Not once did I want one, the thought of smoking never even occurred to me.  So however difficult it is at the start and you think you won't be able to get by without a cigarette, you really can.

Congratulations @Sally, yes it can be done.

4 years is great and better still that you forgot about it and you weren't tempted to light up during your recent sad times xxx

It doesn't matter how many times we tell people it can be done, unless they do it for themselves or see a friend quit, I don't think they believe us.  Well, people IT CAN BE DONE  ;D

I'm sorry you lost your dad @Sally - no matter how good an innnings he had it doesn't change the hole his absence will leave in your heart. But, I bet he's as proud as punch of you (now, just as he was when he could tell you so face to face) and is cheering your triumphant and well-earned arrival at the start of Year Five.

The fact that those cigs were lying around and yet you felt tempted not even once, demonstrates just how thoroughly the Nicdemon has been swept away. x

Well nobody has needed bail money (even @KitKat), so I'd say things were going relatively well.

Times of tears are always testing and when faced with temptation, or merely opportunity, it takes a strong person to turn it down. I'm proud of you. xxx
