First day
« on: May 25, 2018, 05:13:03 pm »
Ok I've taken the plunge and jacked smoking today. I work abroad and fags are a quid a pack so it's a toughie. I guess the time comes and that's that. Don't feel too bad and I'm positive about the outcome.

You have been with us for quite a while @Gorky so well done for taking the plunge.

So many people are just ahead of you or just behind you and looking to quit, so you are not alone.

Keep posting and ask as many questions as you wish and somebody will come along to help or offer support.

Take care

Welcome @Gorky and oooh that’s a toughie alright when the fags are so cheap.....but remember that they are cheap because the country that you are in probably has next to no health care to look after all of the smokers that they do nothing to deter. I’ve just realised that I’ve now gone past 200 days.  Wouldn’t go back to being a smoker if you paid me to smoke.  I love my new life.  Think on that and be strong.

Welcome to Just Quit @Gorky.  That's definitely a difficult one but I agree that when it's the right time for you to quit, then you make it happen.  Good luck for day 2.

welcome to the forum @Gorky. Totally agree with what @Sally just posted, if you really want to stop smoking you will, and if the time is right for you then go for it. Use the excellent support on here as much as you can, as it helps so much. Good luck  :)

Welcome Gorky.
Great move to " park" 006 your smoking habit right here, just leave it here, we will see it is deposited in the trash and you can then get back on track to having a better disposable income, not stinking of fags, improving your health immeasurably , earning another hour and a half a day in your waking hours to do useful stuff plus 100 other benefits !  004

Good luck @Gorky  007
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  Back on the wagon again now...........

Thanks to all of you for the messages of support. Sorry I haven't been on since my post. For those who asked I'm in Kazakhstan working in on an communications infrastructure project. Internet is a bit hit and miss ironically. Not to worry still sticking it out and I'm okay with so far. Thanks again and will update soon.

Wow... we're a right global village aren't we? Kazakhstan sounds so unbelievably exotic to me. Like something from an advert for Frys Turkish Delight.  :)

A big welcome to the forum from me too @Gorky - will look forward to hearing how things are going for you.
