Notching up a century of days
« on: February 08, 2018, 06:35:58 am »
Nope, I don’t believe it either.  Here I am. 100 days in. Now that I’m on my exercise-athon I can honestly say that I’ve had zero cravings and I’m completely on cruise control with this quit now. Damn that feels good after having struggled so much with cravings in the first month. Things I have noticed as my new non-smoking self:

I smell really nice
I can smell the shampoo in my hair and the washing powder on my clothes
I can smell the [quirky] loveliness of my kids’ morning breath
I can smell the stink of others under the stinky yellow thumb and it is really gross

I can breathe
Great lungfuls of air
Enough to let me run for 20 minutes non-stop only 3 months into my quit

I have time
To do more useful and purposeful things, like help my kids with their homework or simply be fun mummy without rushing every body around so I can factor in time for me to go outside for a puff

I do not stress
About if/when I can have my next fag

I have money
To spend on something other than dried up stinky weed to burn

According to my app
I have not smoke 1,978 cigarettes
I have regained 24 days of my life
I have gained 6 days in time that I would otherwise have spent smoking
I have not spent £1,087.85 on cigarettes
I have 100% recovery in the following areas - pulse rate, oxygen levels, carbon monoxide level, nicotine expelled from body, taste and smell, breathing, energy levels, bad breath, gums and teeth, tooth staining, circulation and gum texture.

And I’m feelin’ good......dum dum [etc]

You are doing so well, and what a great post. :D

Hopefully someone reading this will be inspired to give it a go and quit.

It is great to see you with  a little support group of new quitters. Our forum looks like it is doing it's job as we have so many quitting at the moment 007

100 days is a very significant milestone. Proof that you are well on the road to the quit that sticks!

Congratulations.

Brilliant post @Enough42 and well done on 100 days.  All those things make it so worthwhile but it's always the time saved that shocked me the most and how much smokers actually waste.  007
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  Back on the wagon again now...........

Wow you got there @Enough42  and you didn't think you could make it to 42 days, but once you did, there was no stopping you, you must give inspiration to the guests and members on this forum with so many good points, and a boost to the November 17s. I must admit I had no idea there were so many good  points when I quit. And your next target is ? 007

Quit 16th November 2017.
Last smoke 21st November 2017.
Trigger word...LEG.

Awww thanks guys. You’re all fantastically amazing and I seriously owe this quit to all of you.

No celebrations tonight @Glasgowgal I’m afraid. I’m trying to reduce my alcohol intake plus I have parent teacher meetings tonight followed by puppy training! I’ll postpone celebrations to tomorrow night. But by all means please do feel free to raise a glass if you happen to be pouring......

And yes @Max414 trust me, it’s not often that I “big” myself up but quitting is such a difficult thing to do physically and mentally that I am quite simply very proud of my achievement and happy to shout about it because it feeeeeeels GREAT!

Next target @LAST CHANCE SALOON? Well, I’m feelin pretty good so let’s push the boat out a bit shall we - 200 days!
