After far too many years I stubbed out my final cigarette on February 6 2011 at 10 pm and havent looked back since.

So, thought I would update without starting a new thread - I have enough on here  :)

Day 25 today and still feeling pretty good.  Unfortunately one of my two quitting work colleagues started again after 5 weeks, because of being too miserable and down, I did point out that smoking won't actually improve that but they will do it again when they are ready.

Still been doing the daily quizzes - which I am amazing at - today I scored 2  :D :D
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  Third quit lucky 21/11/2018!

You are doing superbly  :foundbeer:
ALL you have to do to quit for good,is to do as you are doing now.One foot in front of the other, hour by hour, until you amass enough days that smoking ceases to rule your thoughts and your life. It is that 'simple'
I distinctly remember the first day in my quit, where I passed 2 to 3 hours with not a single thought of smoking.I was incandescent with delight when I realised  :foundbeer:
Because to start with, and for a good few weeks, you can expect smoking to be constantly on your mind and in your face, with a persistent feeling of missing out on a lovely comforting friend. If 'missing out' means missing out on 1.wasting money 2. being ill 3 stinking to high Heaven and 4. risking heart attack and lung cancer, then I think we ought to miss out-don't you?  ;D
And keep playing the quiz-by playing every day,you buy a little more into this forum and its people, and we are all about success-beating the cigs, supporting people who are quitting and keeping the demon away-PERMANENTLY  :nobeer:

Day 25 is definitely something to celebrate Nicky.  Shame about your quitting work colleague.  When the time is right for them to try again tell them to pop on the forum and see if we can help them kick the habit for good.

@Nicky40 , you're SO going great guns, I can't tell you how chuffed I am for you! It's a shame about your friend, but I'll bet you'll inspire her to have another crack at it. In the meantime, you're going to the Penthouse for certain.  :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer:

To be fair @Nicky40 I see you weren't the only one who scored 2. I was actually pleasantly surprised by myself today for once.

Day 27 now. Last night was a little tempting with family smokers staying but I resisted and only used the vape once. Off out for a meal tonight with all non smokers so not expecting any difficulties. Tomorrow I reach my first goal of 4 weeks so will need to think of a new one. Have a fab weekend everyone  008 :foundbeer:

Well I think you’ve done amazingly @breakingfree to actually manage to stay up that late! Some nights I was in bed at 8pm!! Well done on giving day 22 the big 2 fingers up. Hang in there.  It does get easier!

I second @Enough42 you have done really well @breakingfree.

I found long baths and early nights helped as they were the only places I didn't think about smoking, even now I still go quite early and watch tv in bed if I am feeling stressy or craving in the evening.  :)

Once you reach that 21 day mark the statistics say you are on the edge of long term success so a huge well done. I still get good days and bad days, usually worse in the mornings for me, but I feel the good days are now starting to outweigh the rough ones.
I am going to do this
Quit 6th January 2018
