Day 13
« on: January 19, 2018, 09:33:28 am »
Well day 13 has arrived and I am doing so much better than last week. Have experienced a lot of anxiousness this quit whereas last year I didn't so not quite sure what the difference is apart from last year being on a stronger patch and this time I did 2 weeks of cutting down, 2 days of Cold Turkey and then slapped a medium strength patch on which helped. I also had that nasty flu all over xmas which was horrid. So here I am keeping busy, walking and cleaning to fill the void times. I downloaded a mindfulness app called Simply Being and its very easy to use as a guided meditation, its helping. I am re-reading Allan Carr book to help get the mindset right for when I ditch the patches, My doctor loves me !! and life is good. Off out with lifelong friends tonight for a curry and probably a good old moan. kk
I am going to do this
Quit 6th January 2018

You are doing so well.  Thats two weeks virtually done and dusted @Gerti1
Enjoy your curry this evening and just think instead of sneaking out into the cold for a quick puff you  can stay in the nice warm restaurant.

After far too many years I stubbed out my final cigarette on February 6 2011 at 10 pm and havent looked back since.

A curry and a moan sounds like the perfect therapy to me.  :)

Good on you @Gerti1 - you're doing fantastically well and should be very, very proud of yourself.... :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer: 008

Well done @Gerti1 my fellow 13 dayer.  I'm so pleased you are feeling a little better now and it will all be worth it in the end.

Keeping busy helps loads, I'm doing the same as you are and walking a lot, also my house is spotless and all the washing and ironing is done (I usually spend Saturday cleaning so I have no idea what I will do tomorrow now).

Enjoy your curry tonight and a good old moan can be good for you  007
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  Back on the wagon again now...........

Curry night went down a treat Glasgowgirl so thank you for asking. 3 women of different menopausal stages and we put the world to rights, laugh, cried and made plans together. We have been friends since school and all now in our 50's so its always good therapy when we get together.

Yes Nicky and me are same day quitters kk

I can only drink water with curry as it makes my tea taste foul. Funny enough my taste buds have been all over the place since I quit and tea has tasted very bland but today everything seems to have settled and had a lovely tasting cuppa this afternoon kk

Oh I love it when that happens and you get a magic cup of tea. Even when you always make it exactly the same way, just occasionally you get a cup that is so perfect that you wish it couldn't end.

Great work doing two weeks @Gerti1 ! I always suffer with increased anxiety when I quit smoking too. I hope the mindfullness helps. I think things will get better over time and overall I’ve read smoking reduces anxiety, it just takes a while to get to that point. Be kind to yourself, what you have done over the last fortnight is really hard and thing will get easier soon
