Day 9
« on: January 15, 2018, 08:54:23 am »
Good morning

Well I'm on to day 9 and although I was a lot more determined this quit I still thought in the back of my mind that I couldn't do it.  And as I have found this first week or so relatively easy I keep waiting for a big crash that will send me reaching for the fags again, but, having got this far that would be hugely disappointing.

So, got through my first whole weekend, had three smokers round for dinner and had a pint of Lager yesterday so I was definitely tested. I admit the Lager made me fancy a cig but it's just habit and I will keep reminding myself that the two don't go together.  I was quite energetic at the weekend and I got so much done which was due to the no smoking/no drinking combo I think.

Still not sleeping well (though it's been years so I should be used to it!) and the hot flushes have not reduced, that is one apparent quit benefit that I don't actually believe as during my 2+ years quit the flushes didn't improve either.  However, there are so many other benefits to make it worthwhile  :)

Have a great Monday everyone - if there is such a thing   :D
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  Back on the wagon again now...........

I totally agree with @Kat73 - that is a massive achievement to get through having smokers around on your first weekend.  I would have been hibernating under my duvet.  You’re a tough woman @Nicky40!

@Enough42 , unfortunately I can't avoid my Mother or my Son so will have to be around some smokers fairly often :D  They did all go outside for a smoke and I was looking at them thinking I was missing out but I told myself I wasn't, they were outside huddled in the cold and I was in the warm!

See with the drinking nicky you are going to think about fags a bit, like just fancy one. But it does get easier i promise. I think every time you have a drinky poo and dont smoke it strengthens that wee weakness. So good on you having that pint and being around smokers and being ok  ;)
