Hi Gerti - nice to meet you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. And for the other difficulties you are facing as well.

I went cold turkey this quit...don't think it's easier or harder than any other method.

I think quitting is hard. Period.

But....all roads lead to Rome...the important thing is getting there.

I feel education about the addiction & mindset are the key to your sticky quit (at least for me)

You can do this!!!!
Quit Date March 14th, 2017.

Hi @Gerti1, nice to meet you. Great that you’ve joined us. I’m only a month quit. You can do this and if you need anything just shout. Make sure you’re kind to yourself the first week, remember it will get easier with time  006

Thanks for all the welcomes. I have had a difficult couple of days and have stuck a patch on which takes the edge off a bit. I have also decided to look for a therapist to help me through as this is so important to me. Anxiety is revolting
I am going to do this
Quit 6th January 2018

I used the patches too @Gerti1 for around the first 3/4 weeks. I found them brilliant at helping me quit, as you said they really take the edge off it. So just do whatever youve got to do to keep the quit!!

Hi @Gerti1 , I couldn't have got this far without the patches, I could only manage them for about 4 weeks but then used lozenges and now I have a 6mg vape in the morning and night time. As I was determined this was my last ever quit I took all the help and nrt I could get.. Its still working.
Quit 16th November 2017.
Last smoke 21st November 2017.

I'm with @LAST CHANCE SALOON dear @Gerti1 - take whatever help is out there (I did more or less the same- patches for the first 4 weeks and then lozenges which I weaned myself off gradually).

Good for you for considering therapy too.
Finally saw sense on 8/12/13

So many mountains, so little time...

Hi @Gerti1 , good luck on your quit.  I last smoked on Saturday afternoon (numerous quit attempts), have a stinking cold, smoking is absolutely not enjoyable just like you said, so only only a couple of days in myself - also cold turkey.  So sorry to hear about your brother and welcome back to the forum.  007
Smoked for most of my adult life (and a fair bit of my childhood!).  Managed a two year quit 2014-2016 but started again!  Quit again on 6th January 2018 and lasted 7 months!  Back on the wagon again now...........

@Gerti1 my day has been ok, slightly lost it over nothing with husband earlier but other than that all good.  Been in bed since 8pm watching Netflix and eating Christmas chocolates. Hope your day has been ok too.
