Hi @Gerti1

So lovely to see you and even better that you haven't given up trying to quit.

We have several members at varying stages of their quit so you are not alone by any means.

As Iv'e always said, a bloody good rant really does help from time to time so please feel free to rant away and get things off your chest   009

Take care

Hi @Gerti1 ,we haven't met, but I was looking at the Snr members yesterday and you were November 2016, as i'm November 2017 I thought I would have a look at your posts, and you have popped back on today. I'm not surprised your quits have failed in the past, you have been in some bad situations. I have failed many times but just keep trying, and suddenly out of the blue you find the ONE quit that's works and keeps on working. We have known for years the health benefits, the money going up in smoke but still it hasn't stopped us. You just need to find that magic quit, just keep trying, and as you know people on here are with you all the way.
Quit 16th November 2017.
Last smoke 21st November 2017.
Trigger word...LEG.

Thank you for your lovely welcomes, I feel like I have come home.
My last quit ended in a depressive state, I think I had been quit 5 months using patches and my beautiful brother was diagnosed with Cancer, I lost him 5 months later, in Oct. A hard curve ball but this bird keeps coming back to this wonderful forum so something has to work for me eventually.
I have never ever managed cold turkey before so this is a new style of quit for me. I am having panic attacks from about 430 am onwards and this lasts on and off for a couple of hours. I have been laid up with this flu virus and so my emotional state was already taking a battering and I was getting no enjoyment from the fags so I just quit.
I am going to do this
Quit 6th January 2018

Oh @Gerti1 - so sorry to hear about your brother.

Nothing can make his passing any easier but I do think that he's proud as punch of what you're doing (and is cheering you on as we speak).

Bless you, such difficult days often cause a quitter to stumble and it's not until we've succumbed that we realise that being back under the smelly yellow thumb actually just added another source of tension, anxiety and pressure to an already dreadful situation.  You know you are always welcome here and you'll find some familiar faces getting underway again (our @markmcclean1980 is back and doing great) and there's a lovely crew starting to get some serious mileage under their belts.

Don't forget that quitting often brings the black dog a calling so if you find you're beginning to sink down then get thee to your GP and get some help.

Chin up sweetpea, these first days are foul but if you push through them and hold fast you will never have to live through them again!

Welcome back @Gerti1 it’s great to see you back at it again.  I have to say I am in awe of you doing it cold turkey.  I can’t help with that but I am sure there are plenty of lovely people here who can give you advice.  What I can do is join with everyone in offering you encouragement and best wishes as you travel along this road.  You can do this and I’m sure you will have plenty of cheerleaders on this forum.

Welcome back @Gerti1, sorry to hear the sad news about your brother.

It's lovely to have you back here and really well done getting through Day 1 cold turkey, I'd never have managed without some help, but just shows how determined you are.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from the flu virus, everybody I know seems to have had it and it just seems to knock you out for weeks doesn't it.
