Hi galsgowgal, yesterday was quite tough, felt really shattered and miserable! How are things going with you? Are you into month two today?

Nick

Day 10 of the quit today. The Champix thing is going ok, side effects are all pretty much gone. I’m definitely not craving like I have during past cold turkey quit attempts and the smell of smoke makes me feel pretty sick. However I do feel kind of empty and emotional.  It’s the emotional loss of stopping which is hard at this stage I think but I’m sure that will go.

The practical problem I’ve got at the moment it is work. I run a small business and a lot of my role is sorting out problems and helping my team but at the moment my patience is so frayed I’m struggling to do either of those things well. Our clients are all in a mad panic about Christmas deadlines and their loose ends,  our new IT system is a nightmare which means the staff are jacked off. Normally this stuff wouldn’t really get to me but having had people moaning at me all morning about trivial stuff it took  all my strength not to loose it and yell at someone today (something I haven’t ever done at work before).

I’m not good no to give up now but It’s blooming hard this at times!

Come yell at us instead @Nick_82    You know how it is at this time of year- everyone gets a bit tired and over emotional. Do any of your employees/colleagues know you've quit? I'm sure some of them at least have been through similar and would understand.

(You're doing fantastically well btw  :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer:).

Thanks Skiddaw, I’ve told some of them (by way of excuse for my grumyness). They are great but as you say this time of year can be tough anyway! Sorry for the moan. Having sausages for tea so things are looking up  :D

Yep, the joys of quitting - mood swings that would impress a pregnant woman!  Fear not mate, it WILL ease off and hey, maybe your beloved will spoil you with some favourite eats for keeping it together in the face of mayhem  ;)

And with only 14 sleeps left till Christmas you dont have the time or the money to smoke.  You are doing so well @Nick_82
After far too many years I stubbed out my final cigarette on February 6 2011 at 10 pm and havent looked back since.

Sausages are an excellent plan @Nick_82 . If nothing else, you can't smoke with a sausage in your mouth.  ;D

I'm sure they must have Christmas sausage over there; they're all calling me over to their stalls here and I don't eat meat so I haven't tried any of them but I have looked. The German ones I've seen before but this year we have a bush tucker one as well with ostrich and stuff like that.

Don’t worry about not being ready Kat, a last minuite panic adds to the fun!!

On the saiussage chat I saw this last year, it really made me laugh

' can i have some Irish sausages, please?' Asked Seamus.  I want to make a proper Irish hot-dog.

The shop assistant looked at him and enquired, 'Are you Irish?'

'If I asked you for Italian sausage, would you ask me if I was Italian? Or, if I asked for German bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German? Or if I asked you for a Kosher hot dog, would you ask me if I was Jewish? Or, if I asked you for a Taco, would you ask me if I was Mexican? Would you, eh? Would you?'

The assistant replied, 'Well...er.... no' .

'And if I asked you for some Bourbon whiskey, would you ask me if I was American? What about Danish bacon, would you ask me if I was Danish?'

'Well, I probably wouldn't,' came the response.

Self-righteously, Seamus demanded, 'Well, all right then, why did you ask me if I'm Irish, just because I asked for Irish Sausages?'

'Because you're in a blooming shoe shop', replied the assistant.
