22 days and I need to burn off that extra energy
« on: April 17, 2017, 09:09:05 am »
Hi peeps

Day 22 and I'm feeling fine. So much more energy so jogging is my new hobby. It's keeping the weight off as I really just want to have food in my mouth all the time, really trying not to and it is drastically better than week 1. My SO has stopped too now day 4 for her and it's much easier.

Breathing is much better, coughing is barely there and my taste buds are awake. I stil get a niggle or two but nothing that wasn't too difficult. Still staying away from alcohol as I want to a make sure I don't get cocky and put myself in a difficult situation.

If anyone is looking on this site and contemplating their quit, go for it, just look at the stories and the massive successes of all these non smokers, not to mention the legends here that support us.

Good luck everyone and happy egg eating bank holiday to you all. Xxx
Quit date 27th March 2017.

:foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer: YAAAAY OUR @Hopeful Marie !!!  ;D

That's exactly what I did (took up running) and the following year I ran a half-marathon. As you say, it's such an excellent way of both dealing with the excess energy and any weight gain. So pleased to hear your partner has quit now too- what a splendid Easter this is proving to be for you both!

Well done the pair of you.

Well done, over three weeks now.  Great idea to start up a new hobby particularly one that keeps the lbs off! Very pleased to read that your partner has joined you in quitting.

@Skiddaw half marathon sounds awesome, how long did you train for. I thinks it's good to have a foal so maybe this is a good option.

Thanks @Sally. I'm pleased she finally decided too also. Joint effort is definitely better than a lone quit!

Approximately 6 months (I registered to run in the September and the half marathon was the following March) but I'd started running some months prior to that. I just made sure I ran regularly (5 days per week in my case) and included a longer run at least once a month (my local runs vary from 3 miles to 13 depending on what mood I'm in and how much time I have). After the half marathon I kept up with the running, and last month I ran it again.

Could never have done that when I still smoked!  ;D

To be honest @Hopeful Marie , it was less hard than I expected it to be and I am sure it'll be the same too if you get into the running regularly.  :)

Well done @Hopeful Marie and welcome to what is now your day 23.

I also took to jogging a year or so ago - started by following the couch to 5k programme which I can thoroughly recommend.  Im comfortable at running 5k now (jogging has now turned to running) and I have entered my first 10k which is on the last bank holiday in May (gulp).  Not up to the same standard as @Skiddaw but I reckon I have quite a few years on you all so 10k is good enough for me.

After far too many years I stubbed out my final cigarette on February 6 2011 at 10 pm and havent looked back since.

Well done @ Titch.
We've joined the tennis club so that should get me moving more, dog walking I cover quite a long way at a reasonable pace but not the same as up and running.
Go Hopefully Marie.  010
