A proud person entering week 4
« on: December 17, 2016, 06:52:48 am »
Hello everyone

Well I am over the moon that I am here as this quit was an overnight decision and yet I am still going strong. Week 3 saw some long sticky craves that tested me but I pushed through and kept busy. Logging on to the forum has been an absolute godsend for me so thanks  to each and everyone of you. Still eating shedloads of sweets and have been eating out quite a bit which has been nice. Looking forward to Christmas :)
I am going to do this
Quit 6th January 2018

You really are doing well and from my vantage point it seems to be going really quickly. So keep going, keep giving yourself a treat for achieving milestones.

Thanks for all your posts, it really does help.

Had a couple of craves today which have now thankfully passed. The build up to Christmas usually see's a row or 2 in this household and 1 has been simmering all week. I was a stress smoker and arguments have always seen me running for a fag but not this time as I have decided that quitting is the most important thing in my life, its above everything, period. My new tactic is to remove myself from debates that become heated and do something constructive, eat as many mint imperials as I choose, eat as many sherbet lemons as well. If I still feel the blood pressure rising I am to take my handbag and purse and go shopping just for me. One life, one shot and I am going to do this. :)
I am going to do this
Quit 6th January 2018

You make a very good point @Gerti1 because I would have said that I did similarly and rather than rock the boat I would run off and smoke and simmer, which never resolved an issue and the only person I was hurting was myself. I would rather have the sherbet lemon or the shopping than jeopardise my health.

Attagirl @Gerti1 !!!! :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer:

Yep, that's the way to go.  Think of your quit as a precious newborn that needs to be protected, nurtured and prioritised above all else.  If you feel yourself wavering then ask yourself 2 questions:

1  Do you want to a) quit smoking or do you want to b) smoke for the rest of your life?

Assuming the answer is a) then ask yourself question 2

2  If you want to quit smoking then do you really want to pick it back up and put yourself through this battle AGAIN???

The idea of having to suffer through it again always helped me hold fast.  You're doing brilliantly sweetpea, hang tough and press on through, you've got this!
