Hello month 4
« on: May 01, 2016, 10:04:39 am »
Yet again I find myself in a room where I clearly posted last time around.  This will be my last time starting month 4 because I will never smoke a cigarette again.

So, 3 months done and dusted.  A quarter of a year down.  Only 9 months (39 weeks in fact) to the penthouse.  I am down to 3mg on my ecig and have turned down the wattage.  Met up with a few friends for poker last night and wasn't even tempted to smoke.  I'm not letting my guard down but this quit feels different.

Finally!

Nice work Mark.
It does sound that you are more determined then ever - it's the only way to quit!

As you say, the penthouse is just around the corner, so keep at it.
Finally quit after 35 years & several attempts.
Used Champix this time and it worked a treat!!
Last smoke 1 Nov 2013 and still going strong :)

Oh Well Done That Man!!!  :foundbeer: :foundbeer: :foundbeer: ;D ;D

@markmcclean1980 , it really does sound to me as though that switch in your brain has tripped and from personal experience, once that happens no matter what difficult moments you may encounter, smoking is just no longer an option. You're quite right- I can definitely tell you'll never be welcoming the start of Month 4 again.  :)

Month 5 will be on you before you know it and next stop will be Halfway House. From there, you'll have a fantastic view of the Penthouse and we shall very soon be cheering you up that red carpet.
Finally saw sense on 8/12/13

So many mountains, so little time...

Well done @markmcclean1980 you have obviously been thinking about your past practice runs and are using them to help you with this fight for permanent supremacy over the nicotine gremlin. Just keep going and you will will be in the penthouse in no time at all; I'll have a drink waiting there for you.
Nicotine free since 22nd August, 2015

Brilliant, this most certainly has to be the one. You know from experience that if you did have one, it would a)never be one and b)you would be back here quitting again. It just not worth it, and it isn't part of you anymore.

I shall raise a glass later to the new Mark, the no smoking Mark!!!!

Congratulations :)
Quit Date: 04-04-2014

You don’t need cigarettes to be complete. All the happiness, comfort and peace you seek, is already inside you.

YOU DA MAN!!!!!
Great to see you clocking up another milestone hon but even more wonderful to see you feeling the difference this time around, sounds to me like this is your quit that sticks!  Without a shadow of a doubt, those first three months are a serious slog and you've come through that not only with your quit intact and your commitment unshaken BUT also having reduced your chosen NRT - that's fantastic!

Keep on keeping on, we are going to have one heck of a party when you proudly march in through the Penthouse doors!

Month 4 says "Hello Mark, nice to see you, stay awhile". I'm really pleased that you're so confident and stable, I like fighting talk. Dead plant 0 - Mark 1/4 of a year.

Thanks for all the kind words.  It's things like this which make it seem achievable.  I will say however that this time does feel a bit different but I refuse to get complacent.  I am determined to reach the penthouse this time whatever it takes.  In fact, I find myself thinking NOPE when it comes to tobacco.  And only when I am ready will I stop using the ecig.  I'm on a roll and I dont want to fail this time.
